Ingredients

  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Guava Purée or Fresh Guava (Quartered or sliced)

Instructions

  • If using fresh guava, wash the fruit and slice it into quarters or eighths. You can leave the skin on—no need to peel.
  • In a saucepan, combine the water and sugar. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  • Add the guava to the saucepan and bring the mixture back to a gentle simmer.
  • Simmer for about 15 minutes, until the fruit is very soft and fragrant.
  • Remove from heat and allow the syrup to cool to room temperature.
