Thyme Simple Syrup Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 10-20 20 thyme sprigs

Instructions
 

  • In a small saucepan, combine the water and sugar. Bring to a boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  • Reduce heat and add the thyme sprigs. Simmer on low for 5 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and let the syrup cool to room temperature (taste along the way to check the flavor strength).
  • Strain through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a sterilized glass jar.
  • Discard or compost the thyme sprigs.
  • Store in the refrigerator for a week or freeze in a glass jar for a few months. Just remember, fresh simple syrup is always best.
