5 ways for mom to relax at the Woodlands Resort and Conference Center

Moms from all over the Houston area find themselves at the Woodlands Resort and Conference Center for a variety of reasons. Maybe they or their spouse have a conference, perhaps they have family in town and they want to get out of the city to reconnect. Plenty of weddings are also hosted at the Woodlands. Either way, mom will find herself there with the kids at some point in time. Resorts are great, but when there is no kids club, which the Woodlands does not have, it is hard for mom to sneak away.

Soak at the spa

Drop the kids off and run to the spa for a massage, pedicure or just a soak in the whirlpool tub. This tranquil part of the building is dark, cool and calming for a mom who is normally rushing from one spot to another just to keep her kids on schedule. Take the time to enjoy yourself and get the pampering you deserve.

Get rid of the kids? With no kids club on sight, you need to get creative about getting rid of your kids so you can run off to the spa or do a little shopping. Golf and tennis lessons are perfect for this. Sign them up.

Bike ride

If dad is traveling with you, leave him to get the kids ready for breakfast while you grab one of the complimentary bikes and hit the trail first thing in the morning. Yes, this is something you could do with your kids (there are children bikes, but no child bike seats or trailers to borrow), but sometimes riding a trail by yourself can help you start your day as the breeze blows across your skin and you watch the animals peek out from their homes.

Drinks at Robard’s

Signature cocktails and fire pits make Robard’s the perfect place to unwind after a long day. Tuck the kids into bed with dad, or leave teens to watch TV and talk to friends in your room, while you head down to enjoy The Outlaw, a smoky and smooth Manhattan, that will mellow you out after a long day at the pool keeping up with the kids and making sure they don’t drown.

Lazy River

Strap the kids in a life vest and tub, grab your own tub and a frozen margarita and float along the river until you are finished with your drink. Don’t forget your sunscreen! You may relax too much and doze off.

Shopping on Market Street

Drive or take the resort’s complimentary shuttle over to Market Street for some shopping without the kids. Head to the concierge desk for coupons and make your way from store to store. There are lots of high-end boutiques, but also your mall standards like J.Crew, GAP and Eddie Bauer. Across from Market Street is an indoor mall if you want department stores and other mall favorites.

Many thanks to the Woodlands Resort and Conference Center for hosting me during my stay for the purposes of review. As always, my opinions are my own. When they aren’t you will be the first to know.
