Alder & Sage

Between 3pm and 6pm every Tuesday through Saturday you can hang out in the Alder & Sage backyard for happy hour. Seasonal cocktails and coffee drinks, plus appetizers, are just a few of the reasons we love to show up for a little time socializing with our community.
Formerly known as Portfolio Coffee and Berlin Restaurant, Alder and Sage was the brain child of owner Kerstin Kansteiner after she bought an old preschool and merged two of her businesses into one space- coffee shop by day, serving breakfast and lunch, and a restaurant at night offering the same level of cuisine fans had come to love at Berlin.

While we all love $2 off draft and bottled beers and wine, it’s the food menu that will get you excited for Ammatoli’s happy hour in Long Beach.
Happy hour specials include select mezzes for $7, including Hummus, Spicy Hummus, Mutabbal, Falafel 7 pcs, Mediterranean Fries, Batata Harra, Labneh, Mujaddara, Grape Leaves, and Cucumber and Yogurt dip. You can also do a three-way mezze with additional options of beets hummus, fried kibbeh, falafels, tabbouleh, tahini salad and the beets salad.
Our favorite– you can order entrees as buy one, get one 50% off, which is a deal that can keep my family fed for at least two-three days.
Art du Vin

Enjoy a glass of natural wine at this women-owned wine bar on 4th Street in Long Beach. They offer 20% off a rotating selection of wines by the glass on weekends. El Barrio Cantina is newer to the Long Beach restaurant scene, but they came out strong with happy hour specials that includes a small menu of food menu for $3-$8, draft beer and well drinks for $5-$6, their Passion Fruit Punch Sangria for $7, and ½ off Margaritas and Miches.

Lola’s is like family to us. Anytime someone comes to visit, we take them to Lola’s first for dinner, Sunday brunch or happy hour.
During their happy hour you can enjoy $10 appetizers, $4 beers, $7 Modelo and house wine, or $7-$9 cocktails, including their house margaritas, most popular of which is Lola’s Margarita.
I love the bartenders here because they will make any margarita for me with whiskey instead of tequila (sadly, tequila and my stomach don’t get along).
Be warned- we generally end up staying for dinner, but we never feel bad. Anything we order provides plenty of leftovers for dinner the next night.
Mezcalero

My husband and I finally went to The Ordinarie during their annual MIRACLE at The Ordinarie holiday takeover. The drinks were by far my favorite part of the menu, but the popovers and chicken pot pie empanadas were also worth diving into.
During happy hour, the small plates are $2 off, you can grab featured cocktails for $10 or $2 off all wine, beer and house spirits.
Panxa Cocina

My friend Wendy and I hit up Panxa any time we meet for happy hour. Their food is delicious, and the cocktails are always spectacular. While I usually stick to my “Nicholas Sage” cocktail, the margaritas are also good. Be on the look out for seasonal drink specials too.
Keep in mind that happy hour only happens in the bar area to the right, not the main restaurant on the left of the hostess stand. Like most happy hours, you will find discounts on drinks and a select number of appetizers.
Although not on the happy hour menu, always order the donut holes. They are worth every penny and calories.

Whenever my husband and I want to sneak away without the kids, we head down to 4th Street in Long Beach to grab a drink at The Social List. Their whiskey menu is top notch and their happy hour is always worth looking in on.
The restaurant offers loads of discounts on food off of their starter menu ($8-$12), plus a $5 Beer of the Day and $5 House Red and White Wine, plus $5 Boiler Makers, $10 Old Fashioned and $8 Mule On Tap.
