Hot summer days are here. The Paloma cocktail delivers a refreshing burst of citrus before that punch of tequila hits your palette and goes straight to your toes.
While visiting Hacienda Petac earlier this summer, I was able to sample a number of cocktails, including a fabulous mojito, that the incredibly talented staff crafted on a daily basis for us. The Paloma (“dove” in english) was a tequila lovers dream.
The bright citrus flavors from the grapefruit and lime juice are sweetened up a bit by agave, before mingling in the glass with a bit of tequila to wind down after a day of exploring the sights around Merida, Mexico.
This drink is so easy, and definitely one for tequila lovers to try out before winter takes over.
Materials
Paloma Ingredients
- ½ oz lime juice
- ½ oz agave
- 3 oz grapefruit juice
- 2 oz patron tequila
- Ice cubes or large chunks of ice
Instructions
Put ice cubes in cocktail shakers and add in all ingredients. Shake vigorously. Ring your glass with a lime and dip in salt. Pour cocktail mixture into glass. Twist a grapefruit peel over the glass so you release the oil before putting the twist on the side of the glass or in the drink.
